Why our chocolate is so unique and delicious? In part, because we work like crazy to make chocolate from the cacao beans. But the main reason is the hard labor of the cacao farmers on the plantations. We visited hundreds of these plantations all over the world and we found several little farms and cooperatives harvesting cacao of the highest quality. These farms grow very special cacao trees providing all the fine aromas. To obtain the best flavors, the experienced farmers need to get the cacao beans perfectly fermented and properly dried. Working directly with these farms allows us to make sure these farmers get their fair share for all the work they do. Our goal is to honor the arduous labor performed on the cacao plantations just to satisfy our chocolate cravings!

KALLARI

We had to reach the beginning of the Ecuadorian jungle to meet up with the people behind Kallari Cooperative. And it was worth it! This little organization uniting several Kichwa villages is a wonderful story of cooperation. They share infrastructure and knowledge to harvest and process the heirloom cacao growing on their land. Several studies claim that the cacao originates from this region… which won’t surprise you once you taste it!

ZORZAL

The Dominicain Republic is the main organic cacao producer of the Caribbean. In the northern mountains where the Zorzal reserve is located, the concept of organic cacao is brought a big step further. Cacao trees grow in a natural reserve where protected birds live and sing in peace across 1000 acres! This reserve supports a remarkable blend of little cacao plantations and wild forest. And the cacao harvested in this area is incredible… come and visit us to taste the raw cacao beans!

TUMACO

Tumaco, Colombia’s Pearl of the Pacific, is not the safest place on earth; sadly caught in between guerrillas and criminal gangs. Fortunately, that did not stop us from jumping on a rickety bus in that direction! The unique heirloom cacao beans supplied by wonderful, smiling farmers were well worth the trip.
